PhD in Clinical Psychology with Research Opportunities in Human Animal Interaction and Veterinary Psychology

Are you interested in contributing to the work we are doing? Our Veterinary Psychology research laboratory, housed within the Kent State University Department of Psychological Sciences, seeks applications for graduate assistantship in the Clinical Psychology PhD program, with enrollment in Fall of 2025.


This is a funded opportunity to earn a PhD while training with Dr. Mary Beth Spitznagel and conducting research examining pet caregiver burden and burden transfer to veterinary teams. Current research funding in the lab includes projects related to discovery and intervention science in domains of caregiver burden in pet owners and burden transfer to veterinary personnel.


The well-qualified applicant will typically hold a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university with a minimum of 18 credit hours in psychology (including a course in statistics) and GPA of 3.5 or higher.
